Andre is an avid coffee enthusiast who begins his day with a ritualistic cup or two of his favorite brew. For years, he settled for store-bought instant coffee or whatever was available at commercial cafes. That all changed when Pau introduced him to organic Philippine coffees such as Barako Coffee and Philippine Robusta. The bold flavors and organic allure of Barako awakened Andre's palate to the true artistry behind great coffee. Just when Andre thought he had discovered the pinnacle of coffee enjoyment, Pau invited him on a hike where she claimed he would find the epitome of coffee
—spoken of with reverence for its unmatched luxury and unparalleled smoothness.
As they trekked for hours through lush, untouched landscapes, they reached a hidden spot where the rare beans were roasted over wood fires and then brewed in traditional wooden tools. With the first sip, Andre's world shifted. The complexity of flavors—notes of chocolate, caramel, and a hint of tropical fruit—danced on his tongue, leaving a lingering sweetness that whispered of distant forests and wild adventures. From that moment, Andre couldn't imagine starting his day with any other coffee.
Eager to share the magic he had experienced, Andre began introducing Civet coffee to friends and family back home. But soon, his passion transcended borders. He embarked on a mission to introduce this extraordinary coffee to enthusiasts in the UK and the rest of the world, inviting them to savor the luxury and indulgence that only Civet coffee can offer.
Through Andre's journey, one thing became clear: Civet coffee isn't just a beverage—it's an experience that connects people to nature, craftsmanship, and the exquisite flavors of the world's rarest beans.

Pau, a passionate nature lover, discovered civet coffee during one of her hikes in a remote mountain range in southern Luzon, Philippines, in the early 2010s. Along a trail, she found a small hut where Tatay Tino, a local elder, offered her a place to rest and a taste of their homemade organic coffee. Initially hesitant due to concerns about the perceived cruelty surrounding civet coffee production, Tatay Tino enlightened her about the difference between this organic and natural brew compared to coffee from commercial plantations. He explained the meticulous selection process by civet cats, who roam freely in the mountains, and detailed their traditional artisanal methods of processing, handling, and roasting the beans. Tatay Tino also shared the community's challenges, such as limited livelihood opportunities and resources, relying on occasional hikers purchasing their coffee.
Years later, Pau fondly recalled this transformative encounter while planning a surprise for Andre during his visit to the Philippines. Inspired by the generations-old tradition and the profound flavors of civet coffee, she aimed to share this rare and enriching experience with Andre. Pau, also a dedicated yoga teacher, is committed to ensuring the welfare and protection of wildlife and the environment, supporting the community through Dear Coffee.
Her journey with Dear Coffee has evolved into a mission to advocate for sustainable practices and ethical sourcing that benefit both the civets and the local community engaged in civet coffee production. This aligns perfectly with her values of harmony with nature and support for the community.
